About

Starry Night Studio, located in Klamath Falls, Oregon, is a hub for artistic exploration and learning. Ashley provides quality art lessons tailored for individuals of all ages, guiding them through a journey of self-expression and creativity.  Ashley has been in education for 19 years, has obtained a Bachelor's in Applied Psychology and a  Master's in Arts of Teaching.  She has taught in classrooms with ages preK-12th grade but finds her heart in teaching Kindergarten.  She loves to cure her art itch by teaching classes, creating pieces for local art shows, and painting murals whenever given the chance.  What she enjoys most is watching the joy that comes from others creating!

She puts a great emphasis on PROCESS over PROJECT. While it is a goal to have a beautiful piece of art as a result of an art lesson, Ashley spends most of her efforts in creating lessons that foster creativity. She designs lessons that provide exposure to art history, engagement with the different elements of art, connections among other subjects, oral language practice with new vocabulary, and the cultivation of critical thinking skills.

Ashley Spivey

Owner/Instructor

At times a project can appear simple in design, but there are actually more layers involved. Each class consists of a lesson where we usually observe and discuss a specific artist or theme. We then focus on a particular element of art such as color theory, shape, line, perspective, etc… Ashley is also mindful in including connections with her art lessons to other content areas. She has been very surprised at how easy it is to create an art lesson centered around science, math, social studies, and other content areas. During each 6 weeks she will include projects using different art mediums such as oil pastels, soft pastels, water color, graphite, pen and ink, acrylic on canvas.
